An overview of the refreshed post composer for Nextdoor for Public Agencies

You've likely noticed that the post composer has a refreshed look for 2023.

The updated post composer matches the design of the post composer you may already be familiar with from your personal Nextdoor account. In addition to the updated design, you’ll now be able to create and share Posts, Polls, Events, and Emergency Alerts all from one place. Partners have let us know the new post composer is clean and easy to use.

The updated post composer still allows you to target your Posts, Polls, and Emergency Alerts to your Custom Areas , Neighborhoods, and Entire Service Area.

Below is a summary of what’s new:

Create and share Posts, Polls, Events, and Emergency Alerts all from one composer

Target your Events to Custom Areas, Neighborhoods, or your Entire Service Area

‘Select All’ Custom Areas or Neighborhoods that fall within a radius area of your choice to save you time

Use the ‘See More' button when targeting by Custom Area to view more than 50 Custom Areas with ease

Enjoy a simpler posting experience: the Subject Line and Category requirements have been removed for all Nextdoor users, including Public Agencies, allowing everyone to post faster and with ease

You’ll notice one component of the Emergency Alerts feature, the text message (SMS) capability, was removed. However, the rest of the Emergency Alerts feature has remained unchanged. According to their notification preferences, neighbors will still be able to view your Emergency Alerts via push notification, email, and in their newsfeeds.
