Insights on how to effectively use Nextdoor Polls from the Greenfield Health Department
Each week, I comb through all polls shared by public agencies on Nextdoor, and earlier this year, I began seeing innovative polls published by Lindsay Fuss, MPH, Public Health Specialist at the Greenfield Health Department. I reached out to her as I wanted to learn more and was so impressed that I asked if she'd be willing to let me interview her so others could learn from her approach.

In this video, you will learn how Lindsay and her team use polls to "break down information into digestible chunks, involve people in the information, and see where their community is in regards to awareness and behavioral change." As a result of this engagement, more of her community members can make informed decisions about their health and have the information they need to succeed. Also, the data they get from the polls informs what Lindsay and her team communicate in the future.
If you are not familiar with Nextdoor Polls for Public Agencies, polls serve as a crucial tool to:
  • Educate
  • Encourage action and behavioral change
  • Assess understanding, awareness, and intention
  • Measure indicators of actions taken or behaviors changed
  • Make dry content fun and interactive
To learn how to post a poll, see this  help center article , and to see examples of great polls, check out  this google photo album . If your department does not yet have a Nextdoor for Public Agencies page, you can get started by filling out  this form .
