Lawn equipment is often easy to steal and easy to sell. Typically, these types of thefts increase in the spring and summer months, but it’s important to be vigilant all year round. Here are some tips on how to keep your equipment safe and secure.
❗Mark all of your equipment with a security pen or labels so they are uniquely identifiable. Make sure it’s clear they are marked as a deterrent
❗On larger items such as ride-on mowers, consider installing a GPS tracker
❗Make a list of all your equipment and include photos, make, model, serial numbers, and description of any unique marks or identifies
❗Check if your insurance policy covers theft of lawn equipment
❗Wherever possible, store your equipment in a lockable shed or garage and make sure it is alarmed and covered by CCTV
❗Use a motion-activated floodlight in your yard and the areas surrounding where your equipment is stored
