Clear the storm drains to help prevent flooding
Clear the storm drain nearest your home. Do it before the rain if you can. Leaves and trash that block a drain can flood your street and your yard.
→ Work from the sidewalk or curb. Stay out of the street. → Wear gloves and use a rake or scoop, not your hands. → Clear the debris on top of the grate only. Never lift the grate. → Bag the debris. Don’t rake it into the street, where it can wash back into the drain. → Don’t step into standing water to reach a drain. → Still clogged? Report it to [public works contact].
Which drain on your street did you clear? Tell us what you found. ##
