🎒 Your pet needs a go-bag too.
If you had 15 minutes to leave your home, would you know what to grab for your pet?
FEMA recommends a two-kit approach: a lightweight grab-and-go kit for evacuation, and a larger kit at home for sheltering in place. Here's what goes in your starter kit:
✅ 3-day supply of food (in a sealed, waterproof container) ✅ 3-day supply of water ✅ Leash, collar, and backup ID tag ✅ Any regular medications (with your vet's name and dosage written down) ✅ Carrier or crate — one per pet ✅ Current photo of your pet
That's your starter kit. Once you have those basics, you can add a first aid kit, sanitation supplies, vaccination records, and comfort items.
Pro tip: Store it where you keep your own emergency kit, and check it every 6 months.
