In July, Nextdoor launched the ability for Public Agency users to view and interact with posts from all agencies posting into their jurisdiction, including Alerts from Nextdoor’s API partners and News from local news publishers. Following feedback from our Public Agency users, we have introduced a new map feature that lets you easily view and interact with alerts from Nextdoor's alerting partners, both within your jurisdiction and in nearby areas. The Nextdoor Alerts Map displays real-time information from Nextdoor’s alerting partners using Nextdoor’s API. These range from everyday alerts on weather, traffic, and public safety to critical alerts on power outages, severe weather, earthquakes, and fires. The Nextdoor Alerts Map does not currently include alerts from public agencies. You can view and interact with alerts from other public agencies in your area by following the instructions in this help article.
We encourage you to regularly check for alerts in your area. Here are ways you can interact with the alerts:
  • React by clicking Like or selecting a different emoji
  • Leave a comment or reply to neighbors' comments to clarify or give additional information about the alert event
  • Share a link to one of your agency posts as a comment so they can get updates from your page
  • Re-share an alert if you want to amplify or clarify the alert for your neighbors
  • Report the alert to Nextdoor to have the Nextdoor Support Team review it
  • Close the discussion when the alert is no longer active
How to access the Alerts Map: Alerts can be found in the left navigation menu when viewing your Agency home page, or via the Alert Map card on the right side of your home page.
