A suggested post to encourage neighbors to share stories of kindness

Joseph Porcelli

Happy Thanksgiving to all of you who celebrate! Whether you will gather around the table or not, more than likely, we have all been the recipients of kindness from a neighbor.

If we pause to think about it, neighbors are unsung heroes. They are the silent comforters in need, joining us in our laughter and standing by us through our tears. From simple morning greetings to profound acts of kindness, these humble gestures often go unnoticed amidst our busy lives.

As we toast the spirit of Thanksgiving today, let’s honor and express our gratitude for what people next door have done for us. We invite you to a trip down memory lane and share your experiences about the times when a neighborly gesture warmed your hearts or lent you a helping hand by sharing those stories in the comments below.

Let’s also take a moment to acknowledge those for whom Thanksgiving may not be about tantalizing feasts and family gatherings. For some, this day can be a stark reminder of solitude—a contrast to the joy and connection typically associated with this occasion. Let’s reach out and extend an invitation to those among us who might spend the day alone. A shared plate, a heartfelt conversation, or a simple gesture of camaraderie could mean the world to them.

With gratitude,
