Poll: Are your home's external exhaust vents and chimneys clear of snow?

Poll question: Are your home's external exhaust vents and chimneys clear of snow?

Poll options:

  1. I checked - they are clear of snow ✅
  2. I checked - they were blocked; yikes ⚠️
  3. Not sure - I'll check now❓
  4. We heat/dry👚 w/ electricity - no fireplace/woodstove ⚡️
  5. Other (please leave a comment)

Poll description: Carbon monoxide (CO) is a dangerous gas you cannot see or smell. It causes more than 150 deaths each year in the United States from accidents involving household products like generators.

Snow can block your exhaust vents and chimneys, letting CO build up in your home. Ensure that your vents are clear of snow during and after snowstorms, as snow drifts can form.

A blocked vent can also be a fire hazard, even if you only use an electric clothes dryer. Lint can catch fire from heat. Electric dryers do not produce CO, but keeping vents clear is essential for safety.
