Mobile or manufactured homes and vehicles are not safe spaces during tornadoes. Since 1996, tornadoes have killed 815 people in mobile or manufactured homes, representing 53% of all the people killed at home during a tornado.
The most important thing you can do is identify your safe space and make a plan for getting there when a watch is issued. A watch means stay alert & be ready to get to your shelter.
The safest space during a tornado is a tornado shelter. The next best option is an interior room on the lowest floor in a site-built house or building or basement.
If you are in a mobile or manufactured home or vehicle and a tornado is present and you can safely get noticeably lower than your mobile or manufactured home or vehicle, lie in that area, covering your head with your hands.
