Wildfire season is on the way. For neighbors who are older, injured, or have a disability, preparing for the threat by creating defensible space around their homes may not be physically possible.

Since we are all connected to our neighbors on Nextdoor, we can ask for and offer help preparing for wildfire season/

Follow the instructions below. For emergencies, call 911, and please only venture outside if it is safe to do so. Please note assistance is not guaranteed.

Step 1: Click this link https://nextdoor.com/news_feed/?open_composer=true&hashtag=wildfirehelp

Step 2: Where it says, “What is on your mind, neighbor,” type in what needs shoveling (walkway, car, porch, driveway, etc.). Be specific.

Step 3: Click "Add a location;" if the location is inaccurate, type your address in the "Search" field, then click the "Use this location" button.

Step 4: Click “Next”

Step 5: Under "Post to your feed," click on "Anyone" and change it to "Nearby neighborhoods" to reach neighbors close to you

Step 6: Click "Post"

Step 7: Monitor and respond to comments by your neighbors.

Step 8: When you get shoveled out, leave another comment again that you are all set and give thanks to the neighbor that helped you out.

Follow the step above, and please clarify if you are willing to shovel for free or charge a fee.

Please remember that this is a neighbor-powered effort, and participation is voluntary. There is no list of #Snowcrew volunteers or service providers - neighbors need to offer and ask for help shoveling each time it snows.

Kindly repost this message to your neighbors on Nextdoor by clicking the "Share" button/arrow below and then "Repost in newsfeed."
