The Behavioral Comms Lab brings together government communicators who are serious about closing the gap between what they send and what moves people to act. The Lab is facilitated by Dr. Laura Myers of the University of Alabama's Center for Risk and Insurance Research and Joseph Porcelli. Bring real problems: a draft you’re second-guessing, a campaign that underperformed, a message you’ve written the he same way for ten years, or a nagging feeling that it could do more.

While not a concern currently (very wet period), we have a tremendously big issue with residents knowing when to burn or not to burn on their property. While we have burn bans that are implemented and lifted, they do not seem to help. Residents still choose to burn under a burn ban and they also think every day without a burn ban is safe to burn. 

What are some good examples of campaigns, messaging, resources, or websites that we can put together to lift compliance? There is a resistance to solving the problem through stricter policy (agency approved burn permits).

How can we craft better burn compliance and burn pile decisions?
