Before you clean up, photograph the damage
Before you clean up, photograph the damage, [City/Town]. Take photos of the building and your belongings before you touch anything. Keep a list of what’s damaged or lost, and save receipts for repairs and supplies.
If the power was out, check your food:
→ Never taste food to decide if it’s safe. → Throw away perishable food, like meat, poultry, fish, eggs, and leftovers, that has been above 40 degrees Fahrenheit for more than 2 hours. Use a food thermometer. A closed refrigerator keeps food safe for about 4 hours. → Throw away any food that touched floodwater. → When in doubt, throw it out.
What was the first thing you photographed?
